First organized in 1964, the Black Student Fund has been providing a path for students from low-income families to attend high-caliber, well-established independent schools in the Washington, D.C. area. Providing scholarships, services and family assistance, the Black Student Fund supports almost 300 students attending classes ranging from Pre-Kindergarten through the 12th Grade during the 2002-2003 school year. To date, over 2,500 students have participated in the program. 99% of those assisted have graduated from high school and approximately 86% graduated from college. In fact, 100% of the high schoool seniors sponsored by the Black Student Fund during the past 16 years have gone on to attend the college of their choice.

Many of the students have pursued highly successful careers and many have elected to return to their city to serve as doctors, lawyers, educators and law enforcement officers and business and finance professionals working to help the next generation of citizens to grow and prosper.

The Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation is proud to be providing 25 multi-year merit-earned, need-based scholarships to students living in the Washington, D.C. area. The benefits that we will all realize from the contributions generated by these young scholars promises to be significant.
