The Catherine B. Reynolds Foundation is proud to support initiatives that create an inspired and educated citizenry. The Carson Scholars Fund, founded by Dr. Benjamin S. Carson and his wife, Candy, exemplify this ideal. The Fund aims to recognize and reward students in grades 4 through 12 who have earned the highest level of academic achievement. Emphasis is placed on students’ performance and desire to maintain a strong academic record, as well as humanitarian qualities that have a positive impact on society.

Ben Carson has dedicated his life to inspiring others to excel by using their God-given talents. Dr. Carson’s childhood journey was filled with poverty. He struggled with poor grades and a violent temper. After his mother, who only had a third-grade education, challenged him to strive for excellence, he rose from the bottom to the top of his class. His achievements earned him academic scholarships to college and medical school. Today, Dr. Carson is a world renowned pediatric neurosurgeon at the Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions in Baltimore, Maryland.

The Carson Scholars Fund is dedicated to helping highly prepared students earn funding for their college education, reaching one child at a time. They have awarded hundreds of scholarships since the foundation was founded in 1994, and have expanded their program rapidly. They employ an innovative process to identify and reward the most eligible students in schools across the nation. In addition to providing scholarships, the Carson Scholars Fund believes that Dr. Carson’s THINK BIG philosophy can teach and motivate children to strive for excellence.
